The New Face of Squash in The Illawarra

In early 2018, the IDSRA committee agreed to re-name, re-brand and build a new website for the association. Welcome to Squash Illawarra – we hope to assist new players and veterans of the sport alike, by providing all your local squash resources in one place.

Squash is a fantastic recreational activity for fitness, focus and fun. The best thing about the sport is that it’s easy to get started and difficult to master. This makes squash a broadly appealing sport that people can play as a fun casual activity or at a competitive level.

Our History

Squash Illawarra (formerly The Illawarra District Squash Rackets Association, IDSRA) was formed in 1958 to formalise and conduct squash competitions in the Illawarra. The first pennant competition was held later the same year, and, since then, thousands of players have been involved in Squash Illawarra competition play. Whilst we look back on the halcyon days of Illawarra squash in the early 1980s when there were over 20 operating squash centres and over 3500 registered players, current Squash Illawarra competitions are very much alive and kicking with teams representing Dapto Leagues Club, Collegians, Lakeside Leisure Centre, Nowra-Bomaderry and Gerringong.

In addition to the two regular team pennant competitions (Autumn and Spring), Squash Illawarra conducts other events each year; including the District Championships. Please keep an eye on the Event Calendar for upcoming dates and information.

Council Meetings

Squash Illawarra Council Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every 2nd month from January thru September each year. They are held upstairs at the Dapto Leagues Squash Club and start at 6:30pm.

The Squash Illawarra Annual General Meeting is held on the fourth Monday of November each year. It is also held upstairs at the Dapto Leagues Squash Club and starts at 6:30pm.  All members are welcome to attend the AGM.
